RCMP investigate death in Saskatoon lock-up

RCMP officers have been tapped to investigate the death of a young man in Saskatoon police custody.

Brandon Travis Daniels, 19,was arrested Fridayjust after6:30 p.m., when police responded to a complaint "regarding possible drunkenness,"a police spokeswomansaid Sunday.

Daniels, of Leask, Sask., was put into the police lock-up and 12 hours later was found unresponsive. Thecoroner's office pronounced him dead at the scene.

Provincial justice officials haveasked the RCMP to investigate the circumstances surrounding Daniels' death.

The major crimes unit of the Saskatoon police is also investigating.
