RCMP suspect fake OxyContin in Sask. sudden death

A sudden death that occurred on Friday in the Pleasantdale District could be related to counterfeit OxyContin pills, according to Melfort RCMP.

MelfortRCMP are investigating the death of a man, and they say itmay be linked to dangerous counterfeit drugs.

On Friday, MelfortRCMP responded to a sudden death complaint at around 2p.m. CST in the Pleasantdalearea, about 35 kilometres south of Melfort, Sask.

An initial investigationfound fakeOxyContinmay be related to the death, but the investigation is ongoing.

Police are warning people to be aware that counterfeitOxyContin could be in the area. The drug, which often contains lethal doses of Fentanyl, has already been linked to several deaths in Saskatchewan this year.
