Regina groups want to help find homes for 20,000

The national 20,000 Homes Campaign wants to permanently house 20,000 people across Canada by July 1, 2018.

Around 250 people homeless in Regina on any given day

Regina agencies have launched a campaign to find homes for the homeless.

It's believed there about 250 homeless people in the city at any given time, plus many more who are couch-surfing or living with family or friends because they have nowhere else to go.

The national 20,000 Homes Campaign wants to permanently house 20,000 people across Canada by July 1, 2018.

A Regina group is putting a big focus on creating a registry of local homeless people.

A survey of people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless will be conducted Nov. 21-27.

Homelessness was in the news this week when a group of people was found in a tent community in Wascana Park.
