Regina chiropractor charged with sexual assault after 2 women allege offences

A 45-year-old Regina man has been charged with sexual assault after an investigation into allegations involving his chiropractor practice.

A 45-year-old Regina man has been charged with sexual assault after an investigation into allegations involving his chiropractor practice.

The Regina Police Servicesays the suspect is Dr. Ruben Adam Manz of Emerald Park.

Two women have come forward. The first alleged that the offences occurred between January 2012 and June 2016.

Police say they received these allegations on April 7.

The second womancontacted police on Saturday to report sexual offences between April and August 2019.

Both womenallegeinappropriate and unwanted actions by Manz during the course of chiropractic treatments.

In a news release, Regina police statedthat "the actions described could not be categorized as a necessary part of the treatment sought by the victims."

Manz owns and operates Argyle Natural Health Centre with his wife, according to thebusiness'website.

Hewas arrested on Tuesday and charged with two counts of sexual assault.

In an email to the CBC, theChiropractors' Association of Saskatchewanconfirmedthat Manzis a member ofthe association and is a licensed chiropractor in Regina.

"CAS licenses and regulates the province's chiropractors, with the mandate to protect the public interest.... The CAS takes allegations of this nature very seriously," the association said in a statement.

"We are unable to comment regarding Dr. Manz while these charges are proceeding through the judicial process and our internal investigation process.

"The CAS is currently reviewing this matter in light of public safety and will take appropriate actions, as necessary, according to our legislation."

Manz has been released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear incourt on Aug.10.
