Inmates and staff at Regina Correctional Centre donate hampers to families in need

Food hampers and gifts will be given to 15 families in need, thanks to staff and inmates at the Regina Correctional Centre.

This holiday season marks the fifth consecutive year that the Regina Correctional Centre's wellness committee has raised moneyand collected donations to help local families.

"Giving is the true spirit of Christmas and it really gets everyone in a happy Christmas mood when we begin collecting donations every year," Jenna Hansen, correctional worker, said in a media release from the Ministry of Corrections and Policing.

Every hamper includes a turkey supper and a present for each child in the family

The committee wrapped 54 gifts for the children to open on Christmas this year.

Staff also collected clothing donationsfor Sacred Heart School.

The Regina Correctional Centre is located just northeast of city limits.
