The Stones have rolled into Regina.

The rock n rollband many call the world's greatest arrived in a chartered jet at Regina airport late Thursday afternoon.

Frontman Mick Jagger and bandmates waved to around a dozenpeople who came out to greet them. Then theyhopped into a limousineand were whiskedaway.

They're in Saskatchewan's capital city for two shows at Mosaic Stadium the first on Friday and the second on Sunday.

It's the first time they'll play in the province and local fans have been buzzing about the visit for months.

More than 80,000 tickets have been sold, and hotels and restaurants are girding for an influx of visitors from across the Prairies. It's been called the biggest musical event ever to come to Regina, a city of 190,000.

Earlier in the week, dozens of semi-trailers arrived, and the mammoth job of assembling the eight-storey stage inside the football stadium got under way.

Dozens ofextra police are working to provide security for the event and as escorts for the band.

As part of the same tour, theRolling Stones played before a crowd of 50,000 in Halifax onSept. 23. Although it rained that night,fansin Reginacan expectclear skies and temperatures around 20 ConFriday.
