Regina-Qu'Appelle Health Region apologizes for offensive job ad

The ReginaQu'AppelleHealth Regionis apologizing for an offensive job posting thatmade its way online before the long weekend.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, the health regionsaid itlooked into areport of an offensive job postfor an administrative assistant for the health region.

The region said thepost was made June 30, andcontained language offensive in nature towards Indigenous people.

In part, the description in the job postread,"As the Native person does not understand our rules, regulations, policies, procedures or internal structure,they should not be expected to live around or according to them. It is the responsibility of the Administrative Assistant to conform to the needs of the client."

The health region confirms the job is real, but theposting originated from an obsolete job description it hasn'tused for 13 years. A spokesperson confirmed to CBC thatit has been pulled from circulation.

"The RQHR is extremely sorry that an error of this nature was made," the region said "It in no way represents our position with respect to inclusion and diversity in our organization."

The health regionsaid it hasremoved the posting from itswebsiteand isworking to pull the ad from external online job sites.

"Regretfully this job posting was not adequately screened through our proper channels," the health region said. "We apologize, without reservation to all members of Indigenous communities and general public for this grave error."
