Most Regina residents happy with new stadium, pollster says

A majority of people in Regina are pleased with the city's new stadium, according to a public opinion poll.

603 Regina residents were polled on Wednesday

The new stadium had a test run earlier this fall, featuring a university football game.

A majority of people in Regina are pleased with the city's new football stadium, according to a public opinion poll.

Mainstreet Research, in a poll released Monday morning, said 76 per cent of residents expressed approval for the nearly-finished Mosaic Stadium, in a survey done Oct. 12.

There were asked, "Do you approve or disapprove of the nearly complete Mosaic Stadium?"

The responses were:

  • Strongly Approve - 51 per cent.
  • Somewhat Approve - 25 per cent.
  • Somewhat Disapprove - eightper cent.
  • Strongly Disapprove - fiveper cent.
  • Not sure - 11 per cent.

People were also asked if their opinion of the facility had changed over time. According to the poll, 43 per cent of those surveyed responded that their view of the stadium had improved, compared to five years ago. Thirty-nine per cent said their opinion stayed the same and seven per cent said their opinion had diminished.

The Mainstreet Research numbers werebased on an automatic telephone surveywith 603 people who were selected at random based on cellphone and land line numbers. A probabilistic sampleofthis size would yield amarginoferrorof plus or minus3.99 per cent, 19 times outof20.
