3 drivers facing impaired charges after Regina police May long weekend checkstops

It was a busy weekend for the Regina Police Service who stopped 492 vehicles during the May long weekend.

The Regina police conducted check stops on 492 vehicles over the May long weekend, catching a handful of drivers for various offences.

Forty-two of the checks were part of the stealth enforcement team, which caught three impaired drivers.

Another driver received a 72 hour road side suspension forfailinga road side screening test.

When the Regina Police Service conducted high visibility check stops onthe Ring Road near Wascana Parkway, 452 vehicles were checked.

No impaired drivers were charged but one driver did receive a 72 hour road side suspension.

Twenty-four drivers were given road side screening device tests.

One of the 24 received a warning.

Eight vehicles were impounded, 17 were charged with various offences under the Traffic Safety Act and a field sobriety test was conducted.

According to the Twitter account of the RPS Traffic Safety Unit, three vehicles were later found abandoned by drivers in advance of the checkstop on the Ring Road.
