It has been a few years since the Regina Pats were the talk of the town like this.

They've won seven games in a row and have been named the top team in the 60-team Canadian Hockey League.

"For sureit was exciting," coach John Paddock said about the ranking.

It put his team in a good mood Wednesday going into a home game against the Kootenay Ice. The Pats won 10-2.

The team will try to keep theirstreak alive tonight at the Brandt Centre against the Saskatoon Blades.

"We have some very good players who are in their maturing or have matured years," Paddock said. "They've been very focused since the start of the year and have been rewarded for it."
