Police in Regina say a homicide investigation is underway after a man was found dead in a home on the 2000 block of McDonald Street on Friday.

Police said the deceased man has been identified as Abdisalam Dahir Nur, 27, from Edmonton. They added that his family has been notified of his death. No additional details about what may have happened were provided. Nor did police provide information about how the man died.

Officers were sent to the home around 5 p.m. CST, responding to a call about a man found dead.

A neighbour told CBC News Saturday that three to four gunshots were heard, just prior to that hour.

The police service's Major Crimes Unit is investigating along with the provincial coroner.
