The City of Regina and other organizations in the city are making contingency plans ahead of a possible Canada Post strike this summer.

Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers have been in contract negotiations since late 2015 and a legal strike or a lockout could happen as early as July 2. It would affect about 50,000 employees across Canada.

"If it happens, then obviously we're prepared to be able to come out with some communications and let the community know what they need to do," said Chris Holden, Regina's city manager.

That plan includes telling people how to sign up with ebills on the city website. The city is also reminding people there's an option to make payments to any bills both online and at City Hall.

SGI warns it might not be able to issue insurance reminders

SGI is reminding people that regular reminders won't be sent to people in the event of a postal strike. It is encouraging customers to check the expiry date on driver's licenses, vehicle registration, or any insurance policy and make sure to renew them if necessary. This will help make sure the insurance coverage doesn't lapse.

SGI also noted that people can always pay online at MySGI.
