Regina students recite 'In Flanders Fields' in Cree, French, Urdu, Spanish

Students at Gladys McDonald elementary school performed poems and shared thoughts on peace for Remembrance Day.

Students at Gladys McDonaldelementary school in Regina paid their respects to veterans in an extra special waythe day before the civic holiday.

On Tuesday morning, students performed the war poemIn Flanders Fieldsin English, Cree, French, Urdu and Spanish.

They were celebrating the one hundredthanniversary of the poem which was written by Canadian soldier and poetJohnMcCrae during the First World War.

Teachers and parents helped the students translate the poem into the different languages.

They also had specialguests at the school, madepoppy wreaths and were treated to a performance of Last Poston trumpet.
