Regina 'tweets' election news

The City of Regina is turning to Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to spread the word about its upcoming municipal elections.

The City of Regina is turning to Twitter, Facebook and YouTube to spread the word aboutits upcoming municipal elections.

A "fan page" on the Facebook social networking website was launched Friday.

The city has also started "tweeting" on its Twitter feed to provide quick information about recently declared candidates.

Early next month, the city says, it will post YouTube videos of candidates describing their election platforms.

The city says using the new technologies to promote the elections won't cost anything extra.

To find the Facebook page, people are being told to search for "ReginaElections"at Facebook.com. The same keyword can be used to find the Twitter feed and the YouTube clips.

Voters go to the polls in cities, towns and villages around Saskatchewan on Oct. 28. School board elections are also being held that day.
