Remembering war dead all year long

There's more than one way to remember Canada's veterans.

A slide show at the Meewasin Valley Centre in Saskatoon suggests more than a dozen memorial sites that residents can visit any day of the week.

One of the most unique locations, is at the city's Woodlawn cemetary. Murray Wood has created a website for the cemetary. He says Woodlawn is the site of the Road of Remembrance.

It's a laneway lined by trees, each bearing a plaque with the name of a fallen soldier. "These memorial lanes were popular in Europe as well as here and there are still some in Europe, but its the only one still existing in Canada."

Wood says many of the trees were established after World War I, and could one day be threatened by age and disease.

He says the memorial will live on, though, because new trees are being dedicated every year.
