An advertisement with a Remembrance Day theme for a drink special at a Regina night clubis causing controversy.

Earlier this week, Gabbo's Night Club advertised a two-for-one drink special for Thursday on their Facebookpage.

Initially uploaded as a cover photo, "Lest We Forget" was emblazoned on the face of the ad with poppies displayed prominently.

Facebook users have denounced the advertisement as disrespectful. (Facebook)

"For somebody to try and promote it to make money, that really disgusts me," said Ian Brown, president of the Royal Canadian Legion in Regina.

Brown wants an apology from Gabbo's, as the Remembrance Day-themedpost is for the club's own monetary gainand not to honour the veterans who have served Canada.

The ad drew outrage from Facebook users who criticized the advertisement as a "disgrace" and "disrespectful."

The cover photo was later replaced with a Gabbo's logo, but the poppy-ladenpicture remains posted on its Facebook page with comments from angry social media users continuing to accumulate.

Requests for comment from Gabbo's have gone unanswered as of Tuesday afternoon.
