Riders fans disappointed ... again

For the second year in a row, Roughriders fans confront the pain of losing the biggest Canadian football game of the year to the Montreal Alouettes.

'We were looking so forward to redeeming ourselves from last year'

It doesn't get any easier the second time around.

For the second year in a row, Saskatchewan Roughriders fans have had to face the disappointment of losing the biggest Canadian Football League game of the year to the Montreal Alouettes.

At pubs such as O'Hanlon's in downtown Regina, fans like Josh Filion had a hard time hiding their feelings about another Grey Cup loss.

"Needless to say I'm disappointed two years in a row," Filion said.

"I definitely thought we had it, it was going really well. The reason this year seems so hard is we were looking so forward to redeeming ourselves from last year," he said. "It just didn't work out."

Scott Prive, who watched the game at O'Hanlon's decked out in Riders colours while drinking a locally brewed beer, found some consolation in the spirit displayed by the fans and inthe fact that at least the loss wasn't the result of apenalty for too many men on the field with five seconds left and the Riders ahead, as it was in 2009.

"It's definitely not as hard as last year," he said. "Yeah, it sucks, but it wasn't the 13th man. I'll be there tomorrow [for the Rider homecoming rally]. I"ll always bleed green."

Eric Walker who also watched the game at O'Hanlon's said no one from Saskatchewan will be turning their back on the team, despite the losses.

"It's all about the Riders, living in Saskatchewan," he said. "If you love Saskatchewan that's how it goes.We support them either way."
