Roughrider elected MLA

A Saskatchewan Roughrider will be the new member of the legislative assembly for the Regina Dewdney constituency.

A Saskatchewan Roughrider will be the new member of the legislative assemblyfor Regina Dewdney.

Gene Makowsky, 38, who has spent his entire 17-year career with the Canadian Football League team, won the seat for the Saskatchewan Party.

Withallthe votes in, Makowsky had gathered about 61 per cent of them.

He defeated Kevin Yates, the NDP incumbent. In the 2007 election, Yates beat the Sask. Party challenger by about 500 votes.
