Roughriders ink defensive lineman Shawn Lemon to 2-year deal

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have inked six-year CFL veteran defensive lineman Shawn Lemon to a two-year contract.

27-year-old had previous stints with Calgary, Edmonton

A day after cutting veteran defensive end John Chick from their roster, the Saskatchewan Roughriders have inked six-year CFL veteran defensive lineman Shawn Lemon.

Lemonmost recently played with the Ottawa Redblacks in the 2015 Grey Cup. Afterthe 27yearold joined the Redblacks mid-season in 2015, he registered15 defensive tackles, six quarterback sacks and three forced fumbles in nine regular season games with the OttawaRedblacks.

In the Grey Cup, he added four defensive tackles and a quarterback sack.

Lemonspent the first half of the season attendingtraining camp with the NFL's San Francisco49'ers,where he played three preseason games.

Prior to that, Lemon had stints with the Edmonton Eskimos, Calgary Stampeders and a single regular season game with the Roughriders in 2011.

Through his first five CFL seasons and46 career games, Lemon has tallied 80 defensive tackles and 28 quarterback sacks.

The contract length is reportedly for two years,according to sports broadcaster TSN.
