RQHR issues public notice about gastrointestinal illness

RQHR has said that the flu-like illness is spreading and asks anyone who is experiencing any of the symptoms to stay at home for 48 hours.

Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea and a mild fever

The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region is asking people to take extra precautions in washing their hands to help prevent the spread of viruses such as norovirus that cause gastrointestinal illness.

The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region has issued a notice asking the public to take extra precautions due agastrointestinal illness that's circulating.

The illness has stomach flu-like symptoms and can include vomiting,diarrhea,nausea, cramps, feverand migraines.

Preventative measures

1. Washing your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds, and washing frequently.

2. Cleaning common areas at school and work often with disinfectingcleaners and cleaning door knobs, phones, and other shared items.

3. If you exhibit any flu-like symptoms, it is recommendedthat you stay home for at least 48 hours.
