Thunderstorms sweep across Sask., tornado reported

Environment Canada is watching as a severe thunderstorm moves across Saskatchewan.

Severe thunderstorm is tracking east at approximately 40 km/h

Environment Canada is tracking a severe thunderstorm that is moving east across Saskatchewan at approximately 40 km/h.

The agency hadissuedtornado warnings for southeastern and south centralparts of the province, but those have ended.For the latest area-specific alerts, check Environment Canada'swebsite.

Eyewitnesses tookto social media to post videos and images of tornadoes throughout Friday afternoon.

JaySolvason was staying at a family cabin near Fishing Lake, Sask., when he saw a tornado about a kilometreaway.

"We just saw it forming and obviously wondering where it was going to go and thankfully it didn't come towards us," he said Friday.

Strong winds, large hail and intense rainfall are all possible in areas under the current storm warnings. Residents in the affected regions are being encouragedto take shelter if they spot a funnel cloud or other dangerous weather approaching.
