Saskatoon Hilltops make history with 5th straight Canadian Bowl win

The Hilltops led the Langley Rams the entire game, beating them 51-28 at SMF Field in Saskatoon on Saturday.

The Saskatoon Hilltops have made Canadian Junior Football League history with a fifth straight national championship win.

The Hilltops led the Langley Rams during all of Saturday's championship game, finishing with a 58-21win over the Rams at SMF Field in Saskatoon on Saturday.

It was a dominant performance. By the end of the first quarter, the Hilltops were ahead of the Rams 9-0. At half time, the score was 31-7 and at the end of the third quarter, Saskatoon led 51-14.

Hilltops defensive back Logan Bitz and running back Josh Ewanchyna were named defensive and offensive players of the game.

The Hilltops did not lose a game the entire season, going 11-0 through the regular season, playoffs and championship. During the regular season, they scored a CJFL-best 402 points while only allowing 70.

Saskatoon holds 21 Canadian Bowl titles and head coach TomSargeanthas guided the Hilltops to 12 of them.

Saturday's win makes it nine straight years that a Saskatchewan team has won the championship. The Regina Thunder broke the Hilltops' streak with a victory in 2013.
