Saskatoon police win 3rd in 'best dressed' cruiser contest

A Canadian law enforcement magazine has awarded Saskatoon third place in its 2015 Best Dressed Police Vehicles contest.

A Canadian law enforcement publication is recognizing the Saskatoon Police Service's new look for their vehicles.

Blue Line Magazine has awarded SPS third place in its Best Dressed Police Vehicles contest for 2015.

"We're thrilled that the new look has been ranked as the third Best Dressed Police Vehicle in the country," states a Friday post to the police service's Facebook page.

The magazine praised the Saskatoon cars for such features as LED lighting,an emphasis on officer safety and an exterior design that allows "citizens to see at a glance the direction of travel in all kinds of weather."

According to a 2014 news release from the Saskatoon police, the vehicles were unveiled in May of that year and represented a shift from the FordCrown Victoria model to the Taurus and Explorer models.

"The striping package was met with enthusiasm from both our own members and you, our community," states the Facebook post.

TheVancouver Police Department won first place in the competition and the Gatineau Police Service came in second.
