SaskTel had $76.4M profit last year, down 16% from 2013

SaskTel rang up a profit of $76.4 million last year, a decline of 16 per cent from 2013 when the government-owned phone company made $90.7 million.

Land line revenue down, but wireless income surges

SaskTelrang up a profit of $76.4 million last year, a decline of 16 per cent from 2013 when the government-owned phone company made $90.7 million.

SaskTelsays several challenges are to blame, including a rapid loss of land line customers.

The companysays about 26,000customersare dropping land lines each year, which iscutting $15 million from the bottom line.

The companyalso says federal regulations are also hurting, including new CRTC rules that govern roaming charges and data rentals from other providers.

Meanwhile, SaskTel is making more moneyin data services. It's alsoadding wireless internet and TVcustomers.
