Seeding ahead of schedule, but frost damage a concern

Dry weather means seeding has progressed well above normal, but frost is a concern, the Saskatchewan government says.

According to the province's weekly crop report, 64 per cent of the crop is now seeded, compared to the five-year average of 24 per cent seeded.

Warm, dry weather until next week is expected to left farmers get even further ahead.

However, there have been a number of sub-zero nights in recent weeks, and frost was reported over a wide area.
Farmers are assessing the damage, the weekly report said.
