SARCAN says employee from Turtleford facility tested positive for COVID-19

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is warning people who attended SARCAN in Turtleford between Aug. 4 and Aug. 6 about a possible COVID-19 exposure.

SARCANRecycling said an employee at theTurtleford facility recently tested positive for COVID-19.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) announced a COVID-19 exposure at theTurtleford, Sask., SARCAN facility that spanned between Aug. 4 and Aug. 6.

A SARCAN news release said facility has since closed for cleaning and the employee is in self-isolation and receiving the care and treatment they requirefor recovery.

The company did not release the employee's identity, but confirmed they worked at the Turtleford facility on Aug. 6.

"The employee is presumed to have been symptomatic from Aug. 4 to Aug. 6," the SARCAN release said.

Both SARCAN and the SHA advised people who visited the facility and employees to self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 for two weeks from the last day they visited.

SARCAN said under guidance from the SHA, the Turtleford facility can reopen on Aug. 20 at the earliest and only if no other employees test positive for COVID-19.

The facility will undergo deep cleaning and disinfection of the customer, work and common space areas.

Customers were asked to follow SARCAN's Facebook page for updates on the situation.

The health authority asked anyone with the following symptoms to stay home and self-monitor:

  • Fever.
  • Cough.
  • Headache.
  • Muscle and/or joint aches and pains.
  • Sore throat.
  • Chills.
  • Runny nose.
  • Nasal congestion.
  • Conjunctivitis.
  • Dizziness.
  • Fatigue.
  • Nausea/vomiting.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Loss of appetite (difficulty feeding for children).
  • Loss of sense of taste or smell.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Difficulty breathing.
