Agent Leigh Steinberg is en route to Regina to finalize a contract between former NFL quarterback Vince Young and the Saskatchewan Roughriders, a source close to the deal told The Canadian Press.

Young is on Saskatchewan's negotiation list, giving the Roughriders Canadian Football League exclusivity to the former University of Texas star.

The move isn't overly surprising. On Monday,Steinberg told The Canadian Press he expected Young to decide his football future either later this week or early next.

Last month, Steinberg created a stir on Twitter by saying he was talking to Saskatchewan about the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback playing in Canada this season.

Young turns 34 in May and hasn't been on an NFL roster since the 2014 off-season when he was with the Cleveland Browns for two weeks. He hasn't played in an NFL regular season game since 2011, when he played for Philadelphia.

Young led Texas to an NCAA championship in the 2006 Rose Bowl.

He was drafted third overall by Tennessee that year and went on to become the AP offensive rookie of the year and earn a Pro Bowl selection.
