Stolen poppy box results in jail for Moose Jaw, Sask., woman

A woman has been sentenced to 30 days behind bars after stealing a Remembrance Day poppy box from a restaurant in Moose Jaw last year.

A woman has been sentenced to30 days behind bars for stealing a Remembrance Day poppy box from a restaurant in Moose Jaw last year.

Angela Orr, 32, also stole from Safeway and Staples stores.

She will serve that sentence at the same time she serves a one-year sentenceon another offence possessionof drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The Crown prosecutor in the case saidOrr turned herself in and returned the box of poppies. She had taken themfrom the Landscape Restaurant in Moose Jaw.

Court heard shehad stolen the box, which contained money,to feed her addiction.

She was given three months'credit for time already served, leaving a net sentence of nine months.

After she's out of jail, she'll be under a one-year probation order.
