Stones add second Regina show

Following a lightning-fast sellout of their Oct. 8 show in Regina, the Rolling Stones have announced they'll do a second show at Mosaic Stadium two days earlier.

Following a lightning-fast sellout of their Oct. 8 show in Regina, the Rolling Stones have announced a second show at Mosaic Stadium two days earlier.

Tickets for the Stones' Oct. 6 show go on sale to the general public on Friday.

It's a second chance for disappointed fans who couldn't get tickets the first time around. The concert sold out in less than half an hour when sales to the general public opened Monday.

Promoters said they have added the date because of overwhelming demand.

The Stones concert is a first for Regina and could be the largest the city has ever seen.

Some fans were upset when Saskatchewan Roughrider season-ticket holders, as well as members of the Rolling Stones fan club, got first dibs on thousands of the best tickets last week.

However, fan-club members and season-ticket holders will again get first dibs on the second show. Ticket sales to those two groups go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. CT.

In Halifax, there was not nearly as much competition for tickets. About 35,000 Stones tickets sold the first day, about half the number available for the Sept. 23 concert at Halifax Commons.

Alice Cooper and Sloan will open for the British rockers. It's their second date in Atlantic Canada last year, they performed in Moncton for the first time, before a crowd of some 80,000 people at Magnetic Hill.

There will also be a concert in Vancouver Nov. 3.

The Stones had announced last week they'd be playing a concert in Montana on Oct. 6. It appears that concert is now cancelled, though there was no official word Tuesday from promoters.

The Stones have played for 4.5 million fans on the A Bigger Bang tour, which has taken them to China, Rio and Australia.
