Environment Canada confirms tornado near Davidson, Sask.

For people who live close to Davidson, Sask., it was hard to miss the tornado which touched down just west of the town Tuesday night.

For people who live close to Davidson, Sask., it was hard to miss the tornado which touched down just west of the town Tuesday night.

Brad Baron was driving innear Girvin, which is about 15 kilometres south of Davidson,when he saw the twister drop out of the clouds.

"Basically, right there out my passenger window, I could see this funnel cloud drop down," he said. "It didn't seem too dangerous at the time."

Environment Canada confirms a tornado destroyed a farmyard west of Davidson. Other storm cells moving across the provinceproducedhail the size of tennis balls and softballs.

"It was around 8:15 last night," said John Paul Craig, a warning preparedness meteorologist with Environment Canada. "Itlasted on the ground for several minutes then it lifted."

Craig said no other tornados were reported.

Sheri Warkentin, a public health nurse in Davidson, lives on a farm eight kilometreswest of the community.

She says the funnel cloudtouched down northwest of town in a neighbour's yard.

She and other people in the areahelped neighbours clean up.
