Troy Napope, missing since May, now a homicide case, RCMP say

Troy Cecil Napope, a man whose burnt-out car was found in May, is now considered to have been the victim of homicide, RCMP say, although they are still looking for his body.

RCMP in Prince Albert announced Saturday that their investigation into Napope's disappearance began June 6 when the 23-year-old man was reported as missing.

Nine days earlier, on May 28, RCMP had responded to a report about a vehicle found burning in a grove of trees north of Prince Albert.

After Napope was reported as missing, investigators determined Napope was last seen at a party in Prince Albert (in a home on the 1400 block of 12th Street W.) on the night before the car was found. They also learned that the burnt-out car was the one that Napope had been using at the time.

RCMP said they believe Napope is dead and was the victim of foul play.

They are asking the public for assistance in locating the man's remains. They said anyone who may have seen something unusual in the are of Whitfield Road (north of Prince Albert) on May 28, should contact police.

RCMP also want to talk to anyone who had contact with Napope or saw his vehicle (a grey 4-door, 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix) on that day.
