2 charged in Regina with immigration fraud

Two people are facing fraud and other charges after allegedly acting as unauthorized immigration consultantsin Regina, according to the Canada Border Services Agency.

It's alleged that between 2007 and 2013 the two people gave false job-offer documents to foreign nationals. Officials claimthe accused targeted peopleapplying for permanent residency in Canada.

The two accused, ages 40 and 41, eachface a total of seven charges:threefrom theImmigration and Refugee Protection Actand fourfromthe Criminal Code.

If convicted,the pair could be made to pay up to $100,000 in finesand could be sentenced to a maximum of 10 years in prison.

They first appeared in court onJanuary 26. They'll be back in court on March 9.
