Students attending the University of Regina this fall, who areliving in residence, may not find a place to park on campus.

The university is building a new residence, displacing 480 parking spots.

Student were told to buy ahead this year because there weren't going to be as many spaces, according to Pauline Tessier from theschool's facilities management.

"We recommended that they bought their parking before they showed up, rather then showing up with a car and expecting they get parking," said Tessier. "I think they planned accordingly."

School officials said a new parking lot will also be built to make up for some of the lost spaces, but they will still fall short by about 200 spots from last year.

If students have not purchased their parking passes yet, they should take note that spots were almost sold out as of noon Thursday when only 14 were left.
