The best young female hockey players in Canada will be in Regina in November, competing at the 2016 National Women's Under-18 Championship.

The tournament dates, Nov. 9 to 13, were announced by officials from the host city on Friday.

Eight teams from across the country (Alberta, Atlantic Canada, British Columbia, Manitoba, two Ontario teams, Quebec and Saskatchewan) will compete atEvraz Place.

According to organizers from the Saskatchewan Hockey Association [SHA], teams are composed of best female hockey players born in 1999 or later.

"The tournament serves as an important platform for Hockey Canada scouts," the association said. Scouts evaluate candidates for the Canadian contingent that competes at international women's hockey events.

"This is a great opportunity to showcase female hockey and assist in attracting young girls to our sport," Kelly McClintock, from the SHA, said.
