White Christmas odds good in Regina, Saskatoon, weather office says

Saskatchewan residents dreaming of a white Christmas will probably see their wishes come true, Environment Canada says.

Environment Canada calculates odds for 43 communities based on records going back to 1955

Saskatchewan residentsdreaming of a white Christmas will probably see their wishes come true, Environment Canada says.

The weather office has calculated the odds for 43 major centresof having at least two centimetres of snow on the ground on the morning of Dec. 25.

In Regina, which has only seen a skiff of snow so far this month,there's a 92 per cent chance that will happen.

In Saskatoon, it's a 95 per cent chance.

Environment Canada makes its prediction based on records from 1955 to 2013.

For those Saskatchewan residentshoping fora scene out of Currier and Ives,aprintmaking firmfamed for their winter scenes,the oddscould be worse and theycould be better.

The prediction for Yellowknife is 100 per cent chance of a white Christmas. In Vancouver, there's only a 10 per cent chance of snow cover on Dec. 25.
