Three people are dead following a two-car crash early Sunday morning on a notoriously dangerous intersection just north of Saskatoon.

At about 12:30 a.m. CST on Jan. 3, Warman RCMP came across a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 11 and Wanuskewin Road.

RCMP said a Hyundai Elantra car was travelling west on Highway 11 when it was hit by a Jeep Wrangler SUV attempting to cross the highway on Wanuskewin Road.

The car had four people inside a 33-year-old female passenger, a 34-year-old male driver, a two-year-old boy,and a five-year-old girl all from Saskatoon.

Both adults were pronounced dead at thescene. The children were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The two-year-old boy later died in hospital.

A 49-year-old woman was the only occupant of the SUV. She was also taken to hospital.

After she was released from hospital, police said the woman was arrested and charges are pending. She remains in custody. RCMP said alcohol was a factor.

The westbound lane of Highway 11 was closed Sunday morning after the crash and westbound traffic was being diverted around the area.

Police continue to investigate.
