The city of Saskatoon will test its new alert system NotifyNOW today.

The new system can send out texts, phone and e-mail messages when there is an emergency in the city.

Todays test begins at 9 a.m. CST.

So far, only a few thousand people have signed up for the full service.

However, the new system will also send alerts to all publicly listed phone numbers in Saskatoon.

Some residents may not receive a test message today. In those cases, City Hall is urging people to go to the citys web page to create an account and sign up for NotifyNOW.
