3 dead after truck collides with semi near Langham, Sask.

A woman and two young children are dead after a truck and semi-truck collided on provincial highway 16 between Langham and Borden.

Woman and 2 children die in early morning collision; 5 sent to hospital

A woman and two young children are dead followinga crash involving a truck and a semi-tractor trailer hauling trucks on Highway 16, roughly 50 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon, this morning.

The woman who diedwas26-years-old and from Corman Park, while the two children were a four-year-old boy and a nine-year-old boy, both from Langham, Sask.

RCMP and first responderssay the semi had been traveling westbound on the highway, about 10 kilometres west of Langham, when the truck, carrying seven people, crossed the highway from arural road and collided with the semi.

The collision happened at about 6:55 a.m. CST.

According to MD Ambulance, four people including an 11-year-old boy, a five-year-old boy, a 32-year-old man, and a 46-year-old man were taken to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. They were travelling in the truck. The injuries suffered by the children and the 32-year-old man were described as serious, while the other man is in critical condition.

The lone 53-year-old male driver of the truck is from Martensville. He was transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Warman RCMP and an RCMP collision reconstructionist continue to investigate the crash.No charges have been laid, and the highway is now open.

A CBC reporter on the scene said the semi was hauling pickup trucks and that the crashleft debris all over the highway.

Traffic wasbeing rerouted around the crash siteonto grid roads, then back toHighway 16 east ofthe river.

RCMP remain on the scene investigating the cause of the deadly crash.
