So far, commuters seem to be having no problem navigating the University Bridge Closure.

The aging bridge is closed until the end of August for repairs. While some vehicles, like buses and emergency vehicles are able to use one lane of the bridge, commuter traffic is being rerouted.

Pedestrians and cyclists are still being allowed to use the walkway on the north side of the bridge.

"There's no noise and no fumes as of yet," said pedestrian Sara Agah. "I'm sure it will be a lot different experience once the construction starts. I understand the frustration of the drivers but I think it will make our city better. So we'll push through the next four months."

The City is asking drivers try to not overwhelm the nearby Broadway Bridge when they're looking for an alternative route. This morning, several people, like pedestrian Heather Clysdale started their commute early.

"I think it will take maybe a week or two for people to adjust their driving habits and times and then maybe it will become their routine," she said.

At the worksite, contractors are getting ready to strip concrete and asphalt off of the bridge deck. That's expected to take a few days.

While many people are following the rules, there have been a few exceptions. Police caught one person driving past barricades and crossing the bridge this morning.
