Conservative incumbent Brad Trost wins Saskatoon-University

CBC projects that Conservatives have hung on to the riding of Saskatoon-University as voters send Brad Trost back to Ottawa.

The Conservatives hung on to the riding of Saskatoon-University sendingBrad Trost back to Ottawa.

This is the fifth time Trosthas been elected as MP he was previously elected four times in the riding of Saskatoon-Humboldt before it was reconfigured as an all urban riding.

Trost said he was relieved to win.

"It was a long campaign, there was a lot of pressure. We knew this was going to be a tough campaign after being in government for nine years," he said.

"I'm just very thankful to the people of Saskatoon-University. And looks like Saskatchewan again backed the Conservatives, and of that I'm quite proud."

Trost defeated NDP candidate Claire Card, Liberal candidate Cynthia Block, Green candidate Valerie Harvey and Rhinoceros Party candidate Eric Schalm.

Trost was previously elected in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2011.
