A case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in someone who works or studiesat a Saskatoon high school.

Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools spokesperson Derrick Kunz confirmedsomeone from Holy Cross High School tested positive over the weekend. It's unclear whether it was a teacher, student or other staff member.

Kunz saidthose potentially exposed are being notified, but that only peoplewho had direct close contact are thought to be at risk.

Classes are continuing Monday. The Saskatchewan Health Authority declares an outbreak when more than one case has been confirmed in a location.

Kunzsaid the school is one of those using a "block" system, where students take two longer classes per day instead of the traditional five. This likely limited the exposure of the virus in the school, he said.

Holy Cross parent Joey White, who has one child at the school and another taking Holy Cross online classes, said he's confident health officials will do what's best for everyone.

"We're always concerned but this is one person out of a thousand. That's not bad at this point," White said.
