Deadline passes on latest Saskatoon transit deal

It looks like Saskatoon's transit lockout shows no sign of stopping.

Transit union set 5 pm CST Thanksgiving Monday deadline for latest offer

It looks like Saskatoon's transit lockout shows no sign of stopping.

Monday evening, the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) said it had not heard anything from the city on its latest offer.

The union had placed a 5 pm CST deadline on the deal, which was not responded to.

The offeragreed to recentpension changes voted for by Saskatoon city council, in exchange for the opportunity to renegotiate the deal if the plan's financial situation improved.

It also asked for wage increases.

On Friday, the City of Saskatoon held a news conference, saying that the union had rejected an 'olive branch' deal.

That deal asked the union to withdraw an application to the labour relations board that challenged the legality of the lockout.

That application will go before the board Tuesday morning.
