A 20-year-old man and three teens were arrested on Friday after allegedly fleeing police at high speed in a stolen truck.

At 10:30 p.m. CST on Friday, Saskatoon police received a report about a recklessdriver swerving from lane to lane and braking erratically on the 400 block of Confederation Drive.

A canine officer came across the vehicle at Circle Drive and Clancy Drive, andidentified the truck as one that had been reported stolen earlier that day.

Driving an unmarked patrol car, the canine officer followed the vehicle through the Fairhaven and Parkridge neighbourhoods until other police units could get to the area.

When the other units arrived, officers signalled for the vehicle to stop but the driver of the stolen truck allegedly accelerated in an effort to flee police.

Pursuit called off

Police said the truck reached speeds of up to 100 kilometres per hour within seconds, forcing officers to abort the pursuit for safety reasons.

According to police, the suspects quickly abandoned the stolen vehicle on Gropper Crescent and fled on foot in various directions.

Two suspects were arrested immediately by officers on the scene, and another two were found hiding with assistance from the Air Support Unit and a police service dog.

A 20-year-old man, 16-year-old girl, 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old boy are all facing charges including possession of stolen property, dangerous driving, evadingpolice, possession of marijuana and breach of various court orders.

They will appear in front of a Justice of the Peace on Saturday.

The 20-year-old man received medical attention from ambulance workers for injuries consistent with a dog bite. Police said there were no other injuries.
