Cheveldayoff will seek leadership of Saskatchewan Party

Saskatchewan Parks Minister Ken Cheveldayoff has decided to run for the leadership of the Saskatchewan Party.

Ken Cheveldayoff says he's going to throw his hat in the ring to lead the Saskatchewan Party.

The parks ministermade the announcement before a cabinet meeting Wednesday.

The Saskatoon MLA says he will step down from his cabinet post in a few days and officially launch his campaignon Monday.

In the past, Cheveldayoffhas served as the minister of Crown corporations, minister of First Nations and Mtisrelations, and minister of environment.

Reiter not running

In another development, Health Minister Jim Reiter says he will not be running for the leadership.

"A number of factors have impacted my decision, including family health issues that need to be dealt with in the next few months," Reiter wrote ina statement released to the media."My family and serving the constituents of Rosetown-Elrose will always be my priority."

TinaBeaudry-Mellorand Jeremy Harrison have also announced their intention to run.

The leadership convention will be heldon Jan. 27, 2018.
