Saskatchewan's minimum wage to rise to $10.96 per hour in October

The current minimum wage in Saskatchewan, which was brought in last October, is $10.72.

Saskatchewan's minimum wage is going up by 24 cents this fall.

The increase is to take effect on Oct. 1 and will lift the minimum wage to $10.96 an hour.

The current minimum wage in Saskatchewan, which was brought in last October, is $10.72.

Saskatchewan's minimum wage is reviewed annually based on changes to the consumer price index and the average hourly wage for the previous year.

Any changes are announced by June 30 and take effect Oct. 1.

Saskatchewan's minimum wage is currently the lowest in the country. As of Oct. 1, itwill be the second-lowest in the country, after Nova Scotia.

The province says there are almost 50,000 minimum-wage and low-wage earners in Saskatchewan, and that nearly 70 per cent of them work in retail, or accommodation and food services.
