With a love for learning, Kesha Tipewan applied for and received a bursary being offered by a Saskatoon entrepreneur.

Tipewan is now a fourth-year education student at First Nations University of Canada.

The Neechie Gear bursaries are offered by Kendal Netmaker to give a helping hand to young people who want to pursue their dreams.

"I had to tell them why I deserved it and why I needed it," Tipewan recalled of her application in 2013.

Tipewan wrote about her academic success in high school and how she wanted to continue that in university.

"I just love learning new things and I love taking challenges."

Tipewan is one of nine scholars to receive the bursary.

Applications are now open to Grade 12 students and post-secondary students for the 2016-2017 bursary.
