New buses rolling into Saskatoon

Saskatoons transit fleet is about to get a serious upgrade with more than a dozen new buses and a handful of new access transit buses.

Saskatoon's transit fleet is about to get a serious upgrade with more than a dozen new buses and a handful of new access transit buses.

"Purchasing these buses allows Saskatoon Transit to continue our improvements in our fleet reliability and age," says Clae Hack, Director of Finance. "Leveraging federal funding programs for the purchase of new buses helps Saskatoon Transit deliver high-quality, comfortable service riders expect and deserve."

The 15 new low-floor buses come with an estimated price tag of $7.95 million. The five access buses will costabout $650,000.

The buses are being purchased under the Government of Canada's Public Transit Infrastructure Fund.

The new buses areexpected to arrive in 2017.
