Pit bull badly injured after dragged behind minivan in Saskatoon

Saskatoon police say a male pit bull was badly injured after it was dragged behind a minivan Sunday night.

Saskatoon police say a male pitbull was badly injured after it he was dragged behind a minivan Sunday night.

Witnesses saw the dark-colouredminivan travelling westbound near Lenore Drive and Silverwood Road.

People tried to stop the vehicle when the leash broke, freeing the dog.

The van drove off, and was last seen travelling north on Wanuskewin Road.

Thedog lost a considerable amount of skinandis undergoing surgery at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.The SPCA said hiscondition has improved, although he is terrified of humans. Along recovery process is expected.

Police said the dog's leash wasattached to the rear trailer hitch of the van. They're asking anyone with a clearer description of the van to contact them.

Eyewitnesses saw a white man and woman seated inside the van.

The dog is a large grey and beige pitbull. His age is estimatedbetween three and five years old.

Anyone with information about the dog's owner is also asked to call police or the SPCA.
