Sask. RCMP seize 26 kgs of meth, other drugs in Saskatoon bust
Police searched properties and vehicles in the Parkridge and Eastview neighborhoods
Saskatchewan RCMP say officers seized around 26 kilograms of methamphetamine, nine kilograms of cocaine and one kilogram of heroin during a recent bust in Saskatoon.
They also found more than 1,000 Xanax pills and around $43,000 in cash during a joint search operation on Aug.1, according to a news release.
Two Saskatoon residents were arrested and now face multipledrug trafficking charges.Both are scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court on Sept.19.
The bust was a joint effort between the RCMP'sfederal policing northwest region unit and the Saskatoon Police Service. Search warrants were executed at two residences andtwo vehicles in the Parkridge and Eastview neighbourhoods.
"We know that the reach of illicit drugs impacts all corners of Canada and bring with it a host of other criminal activities and social issues to our communities. This is just one example of how multiple agencies can come together to jointly investigate safety threats," RCMP Insp. Richard Pickering said in the news release.
