1 dies in Regina crash involving alleged impaired driver

One person has died after an alleged drunk driver slammed into the back of a car stopped at a red light in Regina.

A man, 28, faces charges including impaired driving causing death

A fatal crash in Regina Saturday morning has left one person dead at the start of theThanksgiving long weekend.

A passenger in a vehicledied after an alleged drunk driver slammed into the back of a car stopped at a red light at Albert Street and25thAvenue.

Police were called to the scene around 3 a.m. CST.

Officers said acar was stopped at a red light facing north when another speeding vehicle slammed into the back of it, killing the passenger in the stopped car.

The driver of the stopped car was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

The driver of the speeding vehicle, a 28-year-old man, faces charges of impaired driving causing death, exceeding 0.08 causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm.

The accused is expected to make his first court appearance on Tuesday, Oct. 11.
